The Museum of Commerce offers interesting spaces for concerts in addition to the exhibitions they have. The atmosphere inside this old building will definitely leave a mark.
Built in the late 18th century, the building was recently reconstructed.
Aside from the exhibitions, the Museum of Commerce hosts blues/rock concerts several times a month. These concerts are held in a corridor, lined with artifacts, an atmosphere that creates quite the intimate feeling, sitting with no more than 20 people in the middle of old artifacts and listening to good music. "It''s like having a concert in your living room," one observer from our staff commented, "when the musician speaks, it's like he talking directly to you."
The exhibitions are worth while, filled with old packages or cash registers and other items used in commerce in Slovakia in ages passed. Entrance to the museum is € 2-€ 3. It is opened Tuesday to Friday 9a.m. until 5p.m. Saturday to Sunday 10a.m. to 5p.m. Costs of concerts are not much more than that.
The Museum of Commerce is located in Poddunajske Biskupice, which is € 10 - € 15 taxi ride, or about 25 minutes from the city center. On public transportation, under Novy Most (the New Bridge) (the one with the UFO on top) you can board bus 70 and take it to stop Sikma. From there it is only a 5 minute walk away. The Museum feels like it is located in the middle of nowhere, but is entirely worth the trip for a place with such fantastic atmosphere.
